Cylinder Material Specifications

Made To Outperform

The Illinois Pneumatics' Diaphragm Air Cylinder combines the field proven rolling diaphragm design with today's higher strength, lighter weight materials to provide a cylinder that lasts longer, yet weighs less than conventional diaphragm air cylinders. Illinois Pneumatics prides itself in modifying standard cylinders for special use.

Single Acting Cylinders

Flexible Design

Our 3-Piece design allows for more flexibility compared to other cylinders on the market.
Making it the ideal choice for custom/ application-specific requirements. Click on the dots or learn more below.

Pneumatic Cylinders

Fasteners

Manufactured from heat treated, high carbon alloys for strength and resistance to corrosion. Stainless steel also available.

Cylinder Tube

Manufactured from 6063-T6 aluminum, which is fully anodized for maximum corrosion protection. Custom anodizing colors and finishes are available.

End Caps

Made from high grade aluminum alloy offering standard mounting hole configurations or custom patterns.

Piston Rods

Made of hard chrome plated ground and polished steel with a minimum yield of 100,000 psi. Ground and chrome plated stainless steel rods are also available.

Pistons

Pistons are aluminum which allow for light weight and low inertia.

Diaphragms

Made from neoprene rubber with a woven polyester fabric. Rated to operate from -25 degrees to 250 degrees F. Optional viton or silicone material available for more extreme temperatures.

Rod Bearings

Can be customized to fit your application requirements and tolerances. See below for more details.

SA & DA Bearings
Rod Bearings

SA & DA Series

Standard single (SA series) and double acting (DA series) cylinders utilize impregnated sintered bronze bearings with a urethane rod wiper for smooth operation and long life.

Linear Bearing Pneumatic Cylinders
Rod Bearings

LB Series

LB series cylinders utilize linear bearings for applications requiring minimum friction and maximum sensitivity. These cylinders combine the advantages of the rolling diaphragm seal with the extremely low friction linear bearing and a case hardened steel piston rod. Linear bearing cylinders are available in long stroke only.

Composite Rod Bearing Pneumatic Cylinders
Rod Bearings

CB Series

CB series cylinders utilize composite bearings and case hardened steel rods for applications requiring the highest load capacity. With load capacities ten to twenty times greater than other bearings and a co-efficient of friction as low as .125 average, composite bearings are the ultimate in performance. Unlike other bearing designs, composite bearings will not fail catastrophically.
